This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Sensory materials give them the opportunity to engage their senses in ways that support these developmental needs.

Many young children experience big feelings but do not yet have the words or strategies to manage them.

Sensory items such as smelly markers, textured materials, or calming light covers provide safe outlets that help students relax and regain focus. We need sensory items because they are tools that let me do my job better and give my students the ways to feel calm and regulated. Every child learns differently. Having a variety of sensory supports allows me to meet diverse needs, whether a child needs calming, extra stimulation, or a different way to engage with materials.
