Sensory Materials for Special Needs

Help me give my students sensory materials to help them with their motor skills, communication, and sensory processing.

My Students

I have the most amazing and wonderful special education severe and profound class. My students come from very low income families. Many of my students live in government housing and the only meals they have are the free breakfast and lunch they receive at school.

My students come to school every day excited to learn reading, math, and life skills.

They are like sponges and I want to provide them with all the tools they will need to be successful.

My Project

Many special needs children have difficulties with sensory processing. Sensory activities help engage children with special needs as well as, stimulate the brain and improving social skills like communication and cooperation.

The touch and feel books will help allow the students to connect their sense of touch with an object and word.

The musical light up items are both educational and items that many special needs students crave. Many special needs children find music and lights very calming.

The lockable storage cabinet is to keep confidential documents safe and to keep my students safe from cleaning products or other items that they could swallow that might cause them harm. This could include small art supplies or toys, paint, or office supplies.
