My Project
Sensory learning is critical in the early childhood classroom. Sensory experiences help children talk about what they are creating, address their fine motor skills, and give them chances to problem solve all while they are socially interacting with their peers. Sensory experiences also contribute to developing an awareness through hands-on learning and each child's senses.
Sensory play introduces the use of the "scientific method" of observing, forming a hypothesis, experimenting, and making conclusions while children explore and play.
Sensory play also contributes to their love and interest in math and science.
Now, more than ever, children need opportunities to participate in purposeful, play-based learning that is highly engaging. Through the use of students' interests in blocks, sensory fillers, and dinosaurs, children will get to develop their spatial awareness, and geometric understanding, while they engage in sharing and turn taking as well as build their fine motor and math skills as they scoop, pour, measure, and mix!
Sensory activities are not only fun and interesting, but, encourage children to explore and investigate the world around them including their own interests while building their vocabulary and social skills as they grow as mathematicians and scientists!
