My Students

The students at my school are an energetic and hardworking group of children. They enjoy coming to school and put forth the effort to do their best.

I teach students with special needs in an urban neighborhood where all the students at school are eligible for free breakfast and free lunch.

Our school has awesome students, as well as teachers and staff, who strive to make our school a welcoming and inviting place. In addition, our school is one of the top-performing schools in the city.

My Project

I am a special education teacher and work with small groups of students throughout the school day. Sensory items can help students with autism calm down, relax and concentrate more effectively. Children are able to process senses better as well as decrease their discomfort through playing and learning.

Sensory items can help students develop fine and gross motor skills, improve social skills, regulate behavior, and even build vocabulary.

I am requesting specific items such as pencils grips and the sensory pillow to help students learn to buckle, zip, and tie, which will improve motor skills. The Number Block activity kits will help students learn math skills as they engage in various tasks using building blocks. Chair bands can help students relieve tension, release energy, and regulate sensory needs. The liquid bubblers and pop its help students regulate and manage behaviors. These items will help students be more successful in classroom settings.
