My Students

Remember being bored in school and needing a little help staying focused? We do, too! My students all have been diagnosed with a learning disability. They are extremely capable individuals who learn differently than their peers. Most need help focusing in class.

My students are incredible!

They are hard workers, curious, inquisitive, and most of all - hands on! They love seeing why answers are what they are in math class. They take pride in being successful mathematicians and I am hoping to help them find this success with these awesome math manipulatives. All of my students are on Individualized Education Plans, receive free breakfast and lunch, and come from high poverty areas. They are brilliant mathematicians that learn differently than their peers. I take pride in creating learning opportunities that build on their strengths, address their weaknesses, and help them feel successful in school!

My Project

My second, third, fourth, and fifth grade students will be given the option to pick from this Play Doh or Model Magic to help them focus in their classrooms. Research proves that some students benefit from sensory output to increase their focus and attention span. I have seen firsthand that giving my students the option to respectfully and responsibly play with both Play Doh and Model Magic helps them both more work and higher quality work than when they are not using these materials.

Donations to this project will improve my classroom and the learning of my students. These materials will enhance my student's attention spans which will help them to learn more during my innovative and exciting math lessons that are differentiated specifically to the needs of my students.

Students will be more engaged in lessons and as a result will learn more. I also think the Play Doh and Model Magic materials will help students retain the math content they are expected to master each year.
