Sensory Input Tools for Special Education Children!
Help me give my students calming tools that will provide them with soothing deep pressure and that will help them orient their bodies in relation to space.

My Students
I teach in a special education classroom compromised of six children. My students are amazing children who need a lot of support, dedicated teachers and paraprofessionals, sensory integration in their day, and multi-sensory objects. They have severe learning disabilities, language delays, gross and fine motor needs, and autism.
My students engage in self-stimulatory behavior throughout the day, which makes it hard for them to learn as their peers do.
Most of my students have behavior charts, crisis 1:1 paraprofessionals, and detailed behavior plans. However, they are the most lively, happy bunch and truly give you the meaning of living a wonderful life.
My Project
These tools will help my students channel their energy and regulate their emotions. With these devices, my students will be given the tools they need to minimize their disruptive behaviors, improve concentration, and teach them how to increase self-regulation. The flexible seating will give children a chance to move while sitting down and doing work. The weighted animals will give them the sensory input they need to focus. The sensory tactile pillows and other tools will give them a sense of calming pressure and tactile exploration.
These tools will aid my students and me in substituting challenging behaviors with sensory-based activities and incorporating fine motor skills, calming pressure, heavy work, tactile exploration, and hand-eye coordination.
They will be able to self-regulate without having to leave the classroom. More access to self-regulation tools will help the students engage in more academic tasks for longer durations of time.
