Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students consist of inner-city children that come from low-income families, and some are even homeless. As a teacher in an urban district, I work with four and five-year-old students ranging in levels of development. I have several students with special needs (IEPs) that are currently mainstreamed into my general education classroom. One student in particular currently has a personal aide to help support her in her daily school-related tasks.
My student population consists of inner-city children mainly coming from low-income families.
We are a dual-language school where students learn English and Spanish. We are proud to be a national school of character!
My Project
Many of my students have sensory needs! In order to help them focus on the activity being taught, it is important to recognize each student's sensory needs. The materials I am requesting for the project will be a tremendous help in a variety of aspects throughout our daily schedule. The sensory seat cushions offer each student an option, other than a chair which can often be uncomfortable for our little ones, to use as a place to sit for learning. The Playdoh and tools, slime, and sensory ball offer children a variety of materials to stimulate their sensory needs. Additionally, I am requesting enough so that each student will each have their own and will not have to share. This is especially important now while we navigate through this pandemic. Your donations are truly appreciated and will be immensely helpful to our little ones!
