Sensory Fun the Special Education Classroom for Lunar New Year

Help me give my students the tools they need to help them learn through all their senses for the Lunar New Year.

My Project

I love how unique and resilient my students are. Each day, they show their creativity, determination, and different ways of processing the world around them. Many of my students are on the autism spectrum, and sensory tools can provide crucial support to help them engage in the classroom environment. These tools offer a safe outlet for their need to self-regulate, helping them stay focused and calm, which enhances their ability to learn for the Lunar New Year.

The sensory items I am requesting, such as sensory sand, squishies, magnetic tiles and slime, will allow students to channel their energy in a constructive way, helping them remain calm and focused during lessons.

For students who experience sensory overload or difficulty with attention, these items serve as grounding techniques, reducing stress and promoting engagement. By providing these tools, I aim to foster a classroom where each student feels empowered to learn at their own pace.

My goal for this project is to create an inclusive learning environment where my students feel comfortable and supported. Sensory items will not only improve focus, but, also contribute to their emotional well-being. What makes my students special is their ability to overcome challenges with determination, and these resources will help them thrive in their learning journey.
