My Project

I work with students who face sensory processing challenges and texture aversions, including those with Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), which makes mealtimes difficult. Limited food variety exacerbates these issues, leading to insufficient nutrition and hydration. This significantly impacts students’ behavior, focus, energy, and overall well-being.

Our school, located in a low-socioeconomic community, offers only one to two meal options daily, and many families lack the resources to provide packed snacks or meals.

As a result, some students skip meals entirely due to their specific dietary needs or preferences, compromising their health and academic performance.

I am requesting funding to provide a variety of safe, sensory-friendly snacks tailored to individual student needs, such as Goldfish Crackers, Kraft Mac & Cheese Pasta, and Crackers Variety Pack, in our classroom. Additionally, I seek support to expand our food options through the purchase of a Countertop Fridge, blender, and other tools. These resources will enable students to explore diverse food choices in a supportive environment that accommodates their sensory and dietary requirements.
