Help me give my students the sensory exploration they rely on to strive.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a self-contained kindergarten, first, and second-grade classroom with differently-abled students. My students come to me from diverse backgrounds, and with different experiences. Being a public school in New York City, we are lucky to have many cultures and backgrounds within our school. We are a Title I school of about 900 children.
My kiddos face learning challenges as well as life challenges, and it is my goal and deepest hope that they are in a classroom where they feel cared for, safe, at home, and free to learn.
Kindergarten, first, and second grade are foundational years, and they are all about exploring and learning, becoming readers, writers, and mathematicians. We spend lots of time learning how to be good people and laughing.
My Project
Sensory items allow students to increase their focus and patience, build resistance and strengthen their hand and arm strength, and also provide relief for any anxiety and stress they are feeling. These materials will provide stimulating and hands-on experiences that are perfect for creative exploration and sensory play! Currently my students struggle to self-soothe or self-regulate when they are feeling all the feelings.
Given the opportunity to explore these sensory items, they have the chance to be captivated and soothed.
I have carefully researched the products I have selected and I know that they will help my oh so special kiddos. Students in need of more frequent support will benefit from having a fidget monster on or in their desk to help them focus and attend to assigned tasks. For those who need a moment to calm themselves, the wonder wands will work wonders! This organized teacher knows that there's a place for everything so the bins and lids will help us know where we to keep and retrieve these items.
