This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our students face more than just academic challenges each day—they are navigating poverty, trauma, and emotional stress, often without the tools or spaces they need to process it all. They’ve been expelled from their home schools and arrive in our program carrying heavy emotional loads. For many, school has not felt like a safe or supportive place—until now.

That’s why I’m building a sensory room and regulation area: a calming, restorative space where students can step away, regroup, and return ready to learn.

This space will include sensory tools, soft lighting, calming textures, fidgets, flexible seating, and items that promote mindfulness and emotional regulation.

These students deserve a moment of peace during the storm—a place where their needs are met with empathy and support. Your donation will directly help them access the tools they need to regulate their emotions, build coping skills, and begin to feel safe and capable again.
