My Students

As a teacher in a special education inclusion room in a low-income school district, my students are faced with challenges inside and outside of the classroom. Despite the many challenges that my students are facing, I am looking to provide them with a fun, interactive, and meaningful learning environment.

My students have a multitude of needs including physical, cognitive, medical, fine motor, sensory, and communication.

They love learning through a multitude of different means such as sensory activities. They learn best though creative and sensory activities.

My Project

The materials and supplies for this project already have a place ready for them in our room. We just need your help to be able to get them through the door. The sensory bins will be used on a daily basis to help my student meet their developmental goals. Each sensory bin has a purpose and can be changed to meet the needs of each student. There will be 12 sensory bins in my classroom. The materials in these bins can be rotated and changed on a weekly or bi-weekly basis to meet the students where they are. Each material that was selected is important to this learning. The giant magnetic numbers and letter and alhpa-bots will be used to help the students with both their language development and math skills development. The 10lbs of pinto beans, 4 bags of black beans and kinetic sand will be used as filler for the sensory bins. The Fill it Up! fine motor jars and sensory bags will be used to work on shapes. The Montessori animals and giant animal magnetics will be used to work on our language skills. Most of my students learn best through sensory play.

The donation of this projects will help to improve my students sensory abilities, cognitive development, and academic development.

By implementing these sensory bins in my classroom, my students will be able to understand these concepts that are presented in these sensory bins. We will use these materials to aid us in our learning on a daily basis. These sensory bins can be change to match the theme that we are learning about in the classroom. As a special education teacher, I have done research on the benefits of using a variety of ways to learn in the classroom.
