Help me give my students a sensory area in our classroom with a Castle Low Loft Stairway Bed and Cooling Essential Foam Mattress for sensory, imaginary and developmental play.
Students with special needs are often overwhelmed by stimuli that others may not even notice. Many of the students in my special education classroom have trouble staying alert or focused when they don't have the right kind of proprioceptive (tactile) sensory stimulation or input. Studies have demonstrated that sensory tools support motor development, sensory integration, and learning readiness.
Sensory opportunities, imaginary play and developmental learning are very important for a students development as it stimulates all the senses and enlarges a child’s perception of their surroundings.
Sensory stimulation creates an opportunity for children to work on their own individual skills such as: social skills, communication and language skills, sensory and gross motor skills, fine motor skills, cognitive skills. Sensory opportunities also encourage brain and cognitive development, sensory, development, within the vestibular system. Sensory opportunities are beneficial to all children but are especially valuable for children who have intellectual disabilities, due to the nature of this type of play. In our classroom the Castle low loft stairway bed will provide all of these opportunities for sensory learning and imaginary play. The use of the mattress on the top loft will support the students during developmental and imaginary play.
The stairway bed will help children learn and increase their understanding of the world around them.
The more often children engage in sensory exploration activities, the more likely they will be successful learners.
