Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students come from a variety of different economic and cultural backgrounds with 100% receiving free lunch. Our after school program is designed specifically for students to get help with homework, build confidence, and exercise. They are exposed to a variety of age appropriate learning activities that are designed to meet their individual learning levels. The students have multiple opportunities to learn with hands on activities tailored to their learning styles in STEM, math, physical exercise, and science related activities. The after-school program assists their learning so they can be successful in school and life.
My Project
Sensory play is essential for all kids to learn how their bodies work, and how to process and interpret the world around them. Sometimes the reality of a special need, like Down syndrome or autism spectrum disorder, provides a few barriers, but the need and importance of sensory play remain the same for all children.
Sensory play is any activity that stimulates the senses.
There are five main senses: sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch, and two other less-known senses, vestibular (sense of balance) and proprioceptive (sense of where each body part is in relation to the rest of the body). The more kids use their senses, the more they develop them and the ability to learn using them.
Please help donate these items to our class to help our students build life skills and confidence.
