Help me give my students sensory and fidget supports that they can use independently.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Owens's classroom raised $355

My Students
I am a special education teacher in a self-contained autistic classroom in a Title I school. About 95% of the students in our school qualify for free and reduced-price lunch. There are lots challenges each school year in meeting the needs of the students academically, socially, and emotionally.
My students, who fall all across the autism spectrum and struggle with communication skills and academic achievement, still come to school, work hard, and do their best no matter what obstacles they face.
They have a desire to achieve their goals, and we do everything we can in the classroom to help them get there!
My Project
Each of my students are on the autism spectrum, and each requires some support with sensory needs. They also need safe and effective fidgeting or wiggling throughout the day. I would love to give my students the opportunity to be in charge of what they use and when to use it, without always having to rely on staff support.
The addition of these fidgets to supply buckets will allow my students to have constant access to the things that will best support them throughout the day.
Over the years I have introduced several fidgets to my students, and, after much trial and error, I have found that these are the most used and most sought after by nearly all students in my classroom. The problem arises when a students needs or wants a certain one, and another student is already using it. Being given their own to put in their own buckets will increase their independency and self-advocacy in utilizing them.
With these tools, coupled with visuals used in the classroom already, the students will need only to be prompted to use them instead of the teacher having full control over what resources need to be used, when to use them, and how to use them.
