Sensory Addition and Creative Play

My students need Magna-Tiles® to provide them hours of creativity building. My students are very creative and the Magna-Tiles® would allow them a way to express that creativity while building lasting friendships.

My Students

My students are some of the most amazing little people. As a special education teacher I see some of the kids who struggle the most with physical, intellectual and emotional handicaps. 76% of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. Close to 50% are Hispanic and 30% qualify for our Limited English program.

Despite the economic struggle for many of my students they come to school happy and eager to learn.

They also find joys in the small things and remind me to enjoy life. My students love to play with each other during their break times. They often enjoy playing games together, coloring and drawing and taking time to relax from the stresses of school.

My classroom has varying needs. We have students who are not yet able to talk, fully feed themselves to students who are struggling to read. It's a diverse group of students who everyday rely on the adults in my room to help and support them.

My Project

Each year I get new students and with that means new challenges and needs. This year we are in need of more hands on activities. We have several students who love to build. The Magna-Tiles® will allow them to use that creativity to build whatever their minds can think of. It will also allow them to work on their friendship and interpersonal skills.

My students also have sensory needs and the sensory items would allow them the opportunity to receive that sensory input in a fun and interactive way.

What's in Ned's Head will allow my students to have some silly fun while experiencing new sensations.

My students love to play games with each other as well. The Listening Lotto games would allow them to play fun games while learning new skills. It will also allow them to work on essential problem solving skills and game playing skills as well.
