My students need eight noise canceling headphones. We work in a school where the noise level can be such a distraction. I have 30+ learning disabled students with undiagnosed sensory issues that could really benefit from these.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are hungry to learn, but their sensory sensitivity allows for minimal noise to be a distraction. They love to read aloud but when it comes time for guided reading and reading in whispers, it's hard for my students to focus because few of them can whisper-read successfully.
My students are identified as having learning disabilities and/or are speech and language impaired, and therefore require individualized/group assistance.
We are located in a district considered below poverty level with an enormous amount of minority and English language learner-status students. Our school is located in New York. Teachers at this school care so much that we purchase as much as we can, but it can only go so far.
My Project
My students could really use eight noise canceling headphones. We work in a school where the noise level can be such a distraction. I currently have one set of headphones that help my most sensitive student focus on his classwork, but that is not enough. I have 30+ learning disabled students with undiagnosed sensory issues that could really benefit from these headphones.
I have seen the difference one pair of headphones can make.
If all of my students had the same opportunity to work in solace and make progress without distraction it would all be worth it. Please help us out!
