This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I have several students with a variety of neuro-divergent manifestations. These students need to have tools to keep them in their seat and focused on the classwork. 9th graders randomly walking around a classroom is also a recipe for accidents. I have had success with a few pop-it toys lately and I would like to keep up the positive momentum.
The students have been more productive and less prone to pulling out their phones.
These sensory balls and pop-it toys may not seem like they would benefit high school students, but they certainly do. I am growing as a teacher and learning how to work with the different types of disabilities. As simple as it may seem, these sensory toys support genuine learning in my classroom.
