My Project

My Students and the Power of Sensory Play

Many of my students thrive with hands-on, sensory-based activities that engage their minds and bodies in learning.

That’s where this project comes in. By incorporating sensory toys like fidget tools, textured objects, and calming sensory bins, I can create a dynamic learning environment that caters to their individual needs.

How These Resources Will Make a Difference

1) Boosting Focus and Engagement: Sensory items will help my students stay engaged during sessions, especially those with ADHD, autism, or sensory processing differences. Fidgets and textured toys provide an outlet for restless hands while keeping their minds focused on communication tasks.

2) Supporting Emotional Regulation: Calming sensory tools, such as weighted lap pads or squishy stress balls, will help students manage feelings of anxiety or frustration, creating a safe space for learning.

3) Promoting Hands-On Language Practice: Sensory bins and toys with vibrant colors, varied textures, and interactive components encourage spontaneous language use, vocabulary development, and turn-taking skills.

Goals for This Project

1) Create a sensory-friendly speech therapy space where every student feels supported.

2) Incorporate sensory play into therapy sessions to enhance learning outcomes.

Foster an environment where my students feel empowered to communicate in their own unique ways.

What Makes My Students Special

Every day, my students inspire me with their determination to learn and grow. They approach challenges with resilience and a willingness to try again, even when the work feels hard. They are not just learners; they are innovators, problem-solvers, and dreamers. These resources will allow me to honor their strengths and provide the tools they need to thrive.

With your support, we can make speech therapy a "Sense-Ational" experience for these incredible kids!
