Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students in my class have started life with an uneven hand. They are from the inner city and for the most part, have school in overcrowded classrooms with close to no extra-curricular activities after school and the community does not offer enough support either.
My students are from an inner city in Connecticut.
I have 20 fun, loving, and anxious students who want to learn and even more so, want to have fun! They spend most of their evenings at home in from of an iPad or television. This generation is growing up with constant stimulation!. The city in which I work spent millions building beautiful new schools with state of the art technology. Our school is fantastic. We are a pre-k through 8 school, so we are quite large. Each room has a Smart Board and through it I have been able to reach many students who otherwise would have had a hard time paying attention. I can open up the world to them with it, and let them see that it is so much more then what they see from their windows and on the news. Our rooms were built with the Smart Board as the focus of the room. There are no more chalk boards any more! When the bulbs run out in these projectors though, teachers are out of luck and it is the kids who suffer.
My Project
I am requesting a replacement bulb for our classroom projector that will allow me to use all of the learning software that is available and will allow me to reach my students on the highest level. From writing pieces to interactive math and science tools to videos of presidents and inspiring Americans I can better teach, inform, and stimulate my students. Without the bulb, our classroom does not function to its potential. It was designed to work with the Smart Board. My students need a classroom ready for the future, not the past. I want them to have the best for once.

The large and bright screen allows students to follow instruction better. It gives me the ability to show them the world without ever leaving their seats. One small component will give them endless hours of learning and give them the best chance to learn, thrive, and succeed!
