My Students
Have you ever loved a series so much, you started the next book as soon as you'd finished the first? Reading a series is one of the most satisfying experiences a reader can have.
Our school is an area that was badly affected by Hurricane Sandy.
Many, many students lost their homes and belongings due to flood or fire. In a community where many students already didn't have many books in their homes, these losses were devastating. Our school community is very diverse and includes students from different racial and economic backgrounds. My classroom is an integrated classroom in which students with special needs and typical students are brought together.
My Project
Reading a series is one of the most motivating activities for a developing reader. With new and engaging series texts, my students will be able to grow leaps and bounds as they discover characters they love and want to get to know. With several books in each series, students will be able to meet in book clubs and discuss the text, lifting the level of their conversation and becoming stronger readers in the process!
With brand new series books to read, my students will devour them!
In the process, they will become better readers and they will rise to meet the challenge of reading more difficult texts with characters they love.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
