My wish is to be able to provide meaningful incentives for all students at our school. I would be able to provide PBIS prizes for the students to purchase with their school currency. They earn the school currency for showing respect, integrity, safety, and effort. They are then able to purchase prizes from the "Scorpion Store" with their currency. The kids love being able to spend their tickets on fun prizes, but funds are limited and we are not always able to buy the most exciting prizes for the students. Being able to provide incentives that they care about would improve our campus culture and give the kids more reason to earn their tickets. Being able to purchase exciting rewards for the kids would be a huge incentive for the kids to earn their scorpion awards. Currently, the kids can purchase objects like pencils, erasers, lanyards, and folders. The students at our school come from mostly low-income households and are not able to purchase "extra" items. The students sometimes act out as a way to express their needs for connections with safe and caring adults. When students show us positive behavior, we are able to give them a scorpion award to use at the scorpion store. If they are able to purchase cool and exciting prizes, they would be more likely to be excited about earning the scorpion awards and work towards them.
