My Project
I am a seasoned veteran teacher who has just relocated to Philadelphia this year, teaching middle school science. My students are super excited to learn about science, but there is only so much we can accomplish during the school day. I am creating an after-school STEM science club to address the areas of science I do not get to teach during the year to increase student engagement and foster a love of science in an after-school setting.
I want to provide the best learning environment for my students and really want to increase their exposure to foster an avenue for careers in science.
This ongoing science experience will be an arena for students to explore and investigate science phenomena that both interest and excite them, from building roller coasters to learning about kinetic and potential energy to discovering chemical reactions, and seeing how an owl pellet reveals the mysteries of food consumed.
Public schools play a crucial role in the education of all students, many of whom would not be able to afford private education. I want my students to have the same advantages as their peers in a non-public setting. My students will be our next generation of researchers and scientists.
