This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Senior Sunrise is a cherished tradition where our graduating seniors gather early in the morning to watch the sunrise together, marking the beginning of their final year in high school. It's a time for reflection, camaraderie, and creating lasting memories before embarking on the next chapter of their lives. I have secured permission to reserve a local beach pavilion to welcome the Class of 2025 the day before our official First Day of School. This is a new school-wide initiative that we hope to replicate moving forward; but for me, this class was my first class at a new school. I have watched them change from shy, timid, stressed students in a COVID world to compassionate, empathetic, charismatic, young men and women eager to spread their wings. These are truly exceptional children and they deserve the world. They have experienced a level of resilience that did not go unnoticed.

At BHT, where a significant portion of our students come from low-income families, events like Senior Sunrise take on even greater significance.

The Seniors have requested Field Day activities and these items will help kick off the events. The tarp will be used for our own DIY slip and slide; the LED slings so we can play in the dark; the archery set and nerf toys for the boys! Lastly, the rocket decorating for students to decorate shells and rocks at the beach. This is a social emotional project aimed to bring the entire class together.
