My students need transportation and entry into Destination Imagination's Global Finals competition where they will have the opportunity to compete against and learn from the top teams from around the world.
North Salisbury's Mustache Mustangs is a team of 5 fourth and fifth graders. These students chose to compete in the Fine Arts Challenge for Destination Imagination (a creative-thinking, problem-solving competition). For this challenge, students were asked to create a two act musical that included a change in plans. The students created their own script, costumes, set, music, lyrics, choreography, and props. They worked for months on their solution, and in March they competed in the Regional Tournament and earned first place. On April 7th they competed at UMBC against 17 of the top teams in the State. They won 3rd place and advanced to the Global Finals competition in Knoxville, TN.
My Project
At this international event, my students will have opportunities to do much more than compete in this tournament. They will also be able to see how other students faced the same challenge and solved it in their own unique ways.
Global Finals is considered the world’s largest celebration of creativity!
Students will visit the innovation expo and enjoy learning about everything from hovercraft projects to robot races. At skills workshops my students will learn about script writing, choreography, and how to use technology such as a 3D printer. Another skills workshop will allow my students to explore cross-cultural communication styles. This will help prepare my students to interact with DI-ers from around the globe!
My students will be able to celebrate the many countries and cultures represented at the opening and closing ceremonies. Please consider supporting this worthwhile cause.
