My Students
As part of our STEM initiative, my students are engaged in inquiry-based learning. My students enjoy the process reconstructing projects based on experiments and new knowledge.
Many of my students have never had the opportunity to spend the day at an amusement park due to the expense.
Therefore, they are highly interested in attending Six Flags for Physics a Day so they can experiment with roller coasters and engage in the student Egg Drop competition, which would be a great first time experience at an amusement park!
My Project
My students are currently completing an Egg Drop for our physical science class where they are required to create a container to protect their egg when dropped from a staircase. In order to fully understand the process, my students will also take measurements and use Newtons' Laws to explain how their container was created.
Furthermore, students will then be required to re-create another Egg Drop container after analyzing their results. Ideally, students will bring their re-created container to the Egg Drop competition at Six Flags to test its new reliability.
Donations will improve this project by giving my students an opportunity to test their Egg Drop container in a competition format.
Furthermore, it will encourage my students to fully engage in the re-creation process, and, therefore, have a better understanding on STEM-based projects.
