This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Enjoy curling up with a good book? My students need the opportunity to take home a great literature book to read and enjoy.

My students are a jovial and curious group of third graders (seven and eight year olds) who thirst for learning.

My students are all Latino and the majority are first generation Americans. The school is in a high poverty, urban neighborhood. Our school is a kindergarten through eighth grade learning center with a student population of 1,100. We are a year round school calendar that begins in July and ends in June.

My Project

I am requesting quality literature books at reading levels specifically tailored to my students. Many of my students do not have reading books at home or reading books at their level to use at home. In order for my students to become better readers, they need to read books outside of school that are at their reading level. With these books I am requesting, my students will be able to choose a book at their level, take it home, read and enjoy it, and bring it back for another student to enjoy.

As an educator, one of my main goals it to create life long readers.

With the books you donate, my students will be able to visit places they have never seen, laugh along with story characters they can relate to , and hold their breath while turning a page to see what will happen next. Your donation can make this happen for my students.
