My students are tuneful, beautiful, artful people! We are a PreK-4 school in New York City, and we fill our music space with joy by making music together. We sing songs from around the world, play instruments, move expressively, dance, and create music. Some of my students have even been chosen to sing in state and regional honor choirs! The children I teach are wonderfully creative, and I incorporate activities and assessments to harness that creativity and push them to reach their potential.
One of my students was chosen to present her original song through virtual participation at the statewide music education conference this year.
She was the only elementary student chosen in the songwriting category! We need help raising money to pay for the participation fee, and that's where you, the donors, come in!
My Project
Last year, one of my students entered the statewide songwriting competition. And guess what? She won! Out of the whole state, she was the only elementary school student chosen as a winner in the songwriters category. We are so proud of her!
By virtually attending this conference, my student will have so many opportunities to expand her musical skills.
We are thrilled that there is a virtual option this year so our musicians can keep themselves and their families safe but still participate in this exciting opportunity. From the comfort of her own home, she will participate in virtual songwriting workshops, ensembles, music theory classes, and virtual concerts. She will work with renowned instructors to improve her songwriting skills. Most excitingly, she will get to represent our school at this statewide event!
