My Students
Our fifth graders bring to school their enthusiasm for learning and natural curiosity. They come to school prepared to learn and to be successful. Our city has a very economically diverse population. This year, about 23% of the 177 children entering the middle school as 5th graders are members of economically disadvantaged families. So many children overcome the difficulties, both financial and emotional, that their families face and come to school to be with their friends and the caring school staff. Thankfully, our community has many generous organizations and kind people that work together to provide all our children with an excellent learning environment and caring professionals that work hard to meet everyone's needs.
The students entering 5th grade in our city look forward to the ultimate field trip, 3 days and 2 nights at an environmental science camp.
Each fall, our school offers every fifth grade child the chance to participate in a hands-on camp experience that gives them the opportunity to explore natural ocean and pond environments, learn first hand how a lobster boat operation works, experience the science behind a rocket launch and practice team building strategies through Project Adventure.
My Project
The purpose of this project is to help ensure that a child from an economically disadvantaged family has the opportunity to learn in a fun and hands-on environment with their peers. At Camp Bournedale Environmental Education, every child has the opportunity to participate in environmental and natural science activities and learn valuable team building strategies. Both are necessary for success in their school career and in life.
Every child that attends Camp Bournedale participates in STEM and SEL activities that help build a solid foundation for fifth grade.
Every child should have this opportunity no matter what their family's economic situation is. By funding this project, you are giving this opportunity to one very deserving student that may not be able to attend due to financial difficulties.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
