Help me give my students from economically disadvantaged families the funds needed to go to Camp Bournedale and have the learning experience of a lifetime.

My Students
Ten and eleven year old children at our school have enthusiasm for learning and unabashed natural curiosity. Our school offers every child the chance to participate in a hands-on camp experience that gives them the opportunity to explore natural ocean and pond environments, learn first hand how a lobster boat works, experience the science behind a rocket launch and practice team building strategies through Project Adventure activities.
The students entering 5th grade in our town look forward to the ultimate field trip: 3 days and 2 nights at an environmental science camp.
All children learn best when engaging in fun learning activities in an exciting new environment. However, in the past few years, the number of financially disadvantaged families in our city has grown. This experience should be available to all; especially children in this small, but growing, economically diverse population.
My Project
Camp Bournedale should be experienced by all students who wish to attend. In addition to the environmental science experiences, there are many opportunities for social- emotional growth. In our city, the two elementary schools come together as one fifth grade class at the middle school. At camp, many develop bonds with students from the other elementary schools and form lifelong friendships. For some, this is the first overnight trip away from home. This experience should be available to all, especially children in the small, but growing, number of financially disadvantaged in our city.
Donations to this project will ensure that one very deserving student will attend camp with their peers, despite their family's economic situation.
We are fortunate to have organizations that help with providing the supplies necessary to go to camp, but not the fee. Our resources and fund raising cannot keep pace with the anticipated number of students needing help this year.
For the past 25 years, students who have attended Camp Bournedale have created memories they will treasure and share with others for a lifetime. Please help one more person have this experience.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
