This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The best way to describe our students would be resilient. Our students push through all obstacles to come out on top. Our community is mostly made of low-income and/or migrant families. This does not stop our students. They persevere through any difficulties they may have at home to come to school and do their best.
My students are individuals, they are unique, they are the only one of their kind.
Despite our student's struggles, our school's scores last year were among the highest in the city. Our fifth graders this year are truly a special group of students. They came in this school year determined to set the bar higher for incoming classes. They work hard every day, ask questions, explore, research, and learn to become better.
We are indeed a family in our school and we try to make sure that anyone who comes into our school feels as though they are a part of that family. Our students are welcoming and kind. They strive to become the citizens we hope will one day run our country.
My Project
Hi!
I'm a fifth grade teacher at a local elementary school and I am hoping to raise funds to take our 5th grade students to Kennedy Space Center.
After Irma, many students have found themselves with limited funds, but we want to make their last year in elementary the best! We want to make sure every student has the opportunity to go to Kennedy Space Center, meet an astronaut, tour the facilities, and have a once in a lifetime experience. Our students are amazing! They go above and beyond to do their best and learn.
We are hoping to cover the cost of each student's admission which is about $100 and we are hoping to send at least 50 students on the trip. We fundraise all year to cover the cost of the bus and meals, but we do not want to leave behind any of our friends.
Our trip is scheduled for Spring 2018, we're hoping to have all the funds raised a month before the trip.
Any thing helps! We're so grateful to anyone who can help our students learn more about space and explore STEM careers!
