Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I work in a high-poverty urban high school and the students have significant gaps in reading. I have worked hard to develop self-paced lessons for my students with audio and visual support. I need more resources for students to be able to access the lessons in the classroom.
Headphones and computer mice would help students spend more time learning and less time struggling to access resources.
Many of trackpads on the school-issued laptop do not work, and students are much more efficient with a mouse. My school also has a high percentage of English Language Learners who need to be able to be able to repeat audio instructions.
Students will not be able to compete for the jobs of tomorrow without technical literacy. Many of our surrounding districts have superior technology, and this further widens the learning gaps for our students in poverty. Please help me get the right tools to help these students stay competitive in our future economy.
