My Project
In our Fall 2024 Health Education course, the first unit will be focused on "Mental Health and Building Resilience", and will center this Workbook for our reading, writing, and discussion every day. The past year was my first time providing this text to students, and they were so favorable to it: they told me how it helped develop their thinking, grow their self-awareness, and instill new confidence in their minds and hearts. Author Margaret McCutcheon writes in an accessible, safe, informative, and friendly way for teens -- including my students, all of whom are newly arrived immigrants who are English Language Learners.
The Workbook made a direct impact on my students' ability to understand their emotional reactions and how to confront the challenges of being adolescents new to American culture, while forming realistic social and relationship expectations.
I am requesting your support to get 100 copies of this workbook so that every student has their own text to write, draw, review, and refer to as a reference - not only in Health Class, but also in English, where they examine healthy relationships, characters and conflict, and health dimensions.
