My Students
My third grade students are eager to learn. They are curious, creative, and have great imaginations even though we are a Title I school in a high poverty neighborhood.
School is a safe place and I do my best to make my classroom fun and exciting.
Most of my students live in public housing. Their neighborhoods are rough and school is a place for them to be safe. My class is mostly African American children who face a lot of challenges.
My job, as a teacher, is to help them overcome these challenges and become the amazing adults I know they can become.
My Project
The Year 2020 has made it abundantly clear that we need to achieve equity in all of our classrooms. I chose a wide variety of growth mindset books, multicultural awareness books, and fairy tales from around the world to build my students' background knowledge and self-esteem.
My students deserve more multicultural books to read that represent their diverse backgrounds and inspire them.
These books will be used for morning read aloud and will be part of their student kits that will rotate to their homes during our period of virtual learning. These books are necessary because my students deserve equity. Thanks to your generous donations I have begun to add multicultural and growth mindset books to my classroom. Please help us, any donation will be greatly appreciated.
