Self-Directed Notes for Self-Aware Students

My Project

My students are coming out of multiple years of distance learning. They have missed being in classrooms, with their peers, using paper and pencil instead of always being on computer screens.

These materials will help me reinvent the way we take notes in class.

Instead of using notebooks, we will use three-hole-punched notes in folders, color-coordinated for each unit. There will be three differentiated options, and students can self-select the type of notes they want to use. Students will also be able to use highlighters and sticky notes to interact with their notes.

Note taking is a vital skill for students in their future educational goals. The practice that they will get with the notes we take and the ways we interact with our notes will transfer to other classes, and hopefully, to college and beyond.
