Help me give my students a classroom store to help them learn life skills such as earning money, saving money, adding and subtracting for change, and working as a team.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach in a 3/4 self-contained class in a Title One Public School in the Bronx New York. The play money, storage bins, and other materials I’m requesting are to start a classroom store so my children can learn basic life skills such as adding, subtracting, the value of a dollar, saving money, and spending money on what’s really important to them.
I noticed there was a lack of real life understanding when it comes to money within my classroom and school community.
Opening the store my classroom will give the children a greater understanding of coins, money, earning money, saving money, adding and subtracting for change, and working as a team.
