This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our classroom of learners loves read-aloud time. Our read-aloud time consists of many genres. However, we seem to be lacking self-agency books. The materials requested for this project will help my students see themselves in the characters. These characters will overcome challenges, make good choices, and navigate difficult situations.

My goal for this project is to foster a sense of agency in all my students.

Through literature, my class has encountered many relatable characters that have offered different values and perspectives. It has opened the room for deep discussions that open lines of communication and self-awareness.
