My Project
The objectives of this project is to provide SEL lessons targeted to develop students coping skills, self-awareness, executive functioning, and mindfulness through the use of technology integration. Through the use of iPads in education. Leveraging the transformative capacity of embedding SEL as a part of mental health awareness is essential to foster student well-being.
COVID caused student physical isolation.
Isolation impacted age-appropriate self-regulation skills. As a result, higher rates of poor interpersonal skills, anxiety, and externalized behavior are associated with dysregulation. The goal is to foster a safe, welcoming instructional environment that recognizes the importance of the affective domain of learning as an integral part of student well-being.
The school consist of a dedicated group of faculty who are committed to overcoming the unforeseen aftermath of COVID on the well-being of our students. I am committed to build pathways to success that included implementing social- emotional skills based on the CASEL framework to support students mental health. Unfortunately, Alaska ranks #1 in the nation for suicide among adolescents. We are proactively embedding SEL in daily routines to recognize the importance of overall well being.
