This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) is crucial in schools because it helps students develop essential life skills that contribute to their overall well-being, academic success, and success in life.

SEL helps students recognize, understand, and manage their emotions.

This emotional awareness fosters self-confidence, emotional regulation, and decision-making skills. In addition, students learn how to build positive relationships, work collaboratively, and resolve conflicts peacefully. These skills are vital for teamwork and leadership in the future. Additionally, students with strong SEL skills tend to perform better academically.

Schools that prioritize SEL tend to have safer, more welcoming environments where students feel valued and respected, leading to better attendance and engagement. By integrating SEL into education, schools help shape well-rounded individuals who are not only academically capable but also emotionally resilient and socially competent.

The Little Spot resources included in this project are highly engaging and motivating for young learners to learn and practice social-emotional skills. These resources will ensure that students this year and for many years to come have ample opportunities for SEL in a way that is accessible for their age.
