My Project

This year I am teaching the kids who were in kindergarten when Covid shut down our world. They missed so many foundational skills that take place in a traditional classroom setting- including the social and emotional learning that takes place at school during those years. Students lacked exposure to the experiences that allow them to connect with and relate to their peers and engage appropriately with teachers and other school staff. Because of this, many of them have underdeveloped social and emotional regulation skills.

These tools will help my students to continue building their social and emotional toolboxes while normalizing the conversations that come with that.

It is my intention to make SEL the forefront of our learning because I believe if I provide my students with these skills now they will benefit for years to come.
