This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Focusing on SEL is known to improve students' well-being, performance, and conduct. Some new research even suggests that these benefits are long-lasting. Our school promotes monthly SEL themes and lessons which allows students to take a deeper dive into a particular topic each month. Since most students were attending school virtually for 2 academic years due to the COVID-19 outbreak, they were not able to develop these important and valuable skills. As a result, many students struggle with interpersonal skills and in finding a way to connect positively with their peers.
Incorporating SEL activities give students the tools they need to deal with challenging situations, cope with new environments, develop a growth mindset and forge positive relationships with their peers and beyond.
Focusing on SEL equips students with the skills they will use well after they leave school.
Teachers Pay Teachers is known to have teacher-created resources for students that are engaging for students of all grades and visually appealing. I am requesting TPT gift cards and books to promote our SEL monthly themes.
