Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I’ve selected four graphic novels that deal with a variety of topics including intersectionality and identity, substance abuse, LGBTQ+, family dynamics, self worth and self esteem.
These books will help to create a space within our community where it scholars and be safe and brave as they explore themselves and those around them.
Beginning with graphic novels will allow students with multiple levels of access to the texts, focusing on the visual choices the artist made in additional to the text choice of the author. This will develop students as readers and artists as well.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
