This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are creative and curious children who are attending school like never before. The students in my class use devices to log into morning meetings and Google Classroom to participate in our day-to-day activities. The children have come together to form a kind community with each child exploring, ”Who am I?” For many of the children, this class is their first experience in school.
Together with parents and caregivers, they are exploring curriculum and learning through synchronous and asynchronous activities.
Many students do not have limited access to technology and supplies. Through our screen time and lessons, we learn SEL and explore our home environments, our communities, and ourselves.
My Project
Teach students to incorporate mindfulness into their lives. As a teacher, especially after the pandemic, social-emotional learning is an important part of our lives and part of our school's vision statement. These materials will support young learners in discovering mindfulness tools as well as how to apply them to their core curriculum subjects. Many of these wonderful resources will also support me as a teacher in shaping the school's classroom environment and safe haven. By providing students and their families with these SEL skills to thrive, my project can provide them with lifelong skills even after the school year ends.
