Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The past few years have been extremely tough on everyone. Students are struggling getting back to routines and expectations of the school setting. This is from being away from an educational environment and perhaps isolated from their peers during the pandemic. Currently, students are in a confined space and are lacking social and emotional skills to problem solve and be self-advocates to persevere in school. Students are not getting their social and emotional needs met and need an extra boost to get them there.

I am requesting a collection of books for our classroom library to help support the social and emotional needs of our students.

We currently are using Character Strong as our SEL curriculum. The books I am requesting are supplemental to help us build extensions and meet students at their level. My goal is to ensure that students can learn the skills and attitudes to develop their healthy young identities. They can manage their emotions and achieve their personal and academic goals while maintaining healthy relationships at school and at home.
