SEL Creating Kindness Items That Inspire and Keep Us Together
Help me give my students the tools they need to explore and create our Social Emotional Learning activities that we will be working on together this September.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are Amazing!!!
They are kind, creative and thoughtful.
Our school community was devastated by COVID 19. So many children have lost parents and immediate caregivers and and many families are out of work. Most of my students are English Language Learners and have been extremely isolated due to the quarantine. Sadly, their parents have been the front line workers during this pandemic.
Even with all of these obstacles, they approach school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow.
They are my heroes!
My Project
I am the Social Emotional Learning Teacher K-2 at a school in NYC that was profoundly affected by COVID 19. Many of our youngest students have lost parents and immediate family members.
Now that we will be working with them remotely I am creating some fun projects that promote kindness and unity, in a time that we are all apart.
I will be making special T-shirts and cards to send home to each student so they feel a sense of class community. Also, we will be making KINDNESS rocks. I will be sending home project materials so all students can participate.
Social emotional activities will include books and puppets that help students identify their feelings and apply coping skills. This will make them not only successful at school but successful in life.
I hope that everyone who reads this wants to help too.
By donating to our project, you will be helping to improve my students' social emotional competencies in authentic and fun way. As a result, this will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
