My Students

The students at our school are constantly working toward being stewards of our watershed, empowered decision makers, historians and conscientious community members. We are located in south-central Montana, just north of Yellowstone National Park. We are an active, artsy, outdoorsy and environmentally aware community. Being engaged with our "backyard" keeps us connected to our community.

Our daily goal is to explore learning through personal experience.

My Project

Book clubs are a way for people to connect, reflect, and grow together. Finding books for the library can be challenging, especially multiple copies with a limited budget. These titles are focused on social and emotional learning and the book club focuses on communication.

Participating in a guided literature study will help students learn to communicate with others.

Reading together and talking about the emotional issues the characters confront will teach understanding of others situations. During reflection the club can discuss how they identify with the struggle the characters go through. Through this practice we can find empathy for others and just as importantly, empathy for ourselves.
