This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach in a third-grade ICT (Integrated Co-Teaching) classroom at a Title I public school in the Lower East Side of New York City. Our class serves both general education and special education students, including those with diverse learning needs, IEPs, and 504 plans. We focus on creating an inclusive and supportive environment where every student can succeed through differentiated instruction, visual aids, and engaging lessons. With a range of academic abilities and behavioral management needs, our classroom thrives on clear structure, consistent routines, and creative approaches to learning. To foster both social-emotional growth and academic development, our classroom is in need of supplies that promote SEL (Social-Emotional Learning) and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).
Tools like SEL books, calming corner materials, and visual supports can help us better manage behavior and teach emotional regulation.
Additionally, hands-on STEM kits, manipulatives, and visual resources will make our classroom more engaging and fun, especially during choice times and free time. These materials not only enhance learning but also provide my students with exciting opportunities to explore and create, making the classroom a place where they feel motivated, confident, and inspired.
