My Project

Our students struggle with a wide range of issues including having the ability to regulate their emotions, self-awareness, self-management, maintaining relationships with peers, making responsible decisions, and having social awareness. Through the introduction and utilization of STEM activities such as stacking blocks, Legos, and pipe cleaner figure making, students will be able to gain important life skills like overcoming obstacles, problem-solving, and having a growth mindset.

I am excited to see how integrating social and emotional learning with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics can impact our students through academic growth and practical applications in their lives.

We know that utilizing hands-on tools and activities, while working through emotional trauma or turmoil, allows the young students' brain to flow freely from processing to healing.

The students that I get to work with are resilient and have the grit to get through any obstacle that gets thrown their way. Sometimes they need an outlet to work through whatever issue that they have encountered. Though the use of hands-on STEM activities, I get to help guide them with new social and emotional skills that will be a building block to overcoming future dilemmas or hurdles. I love seeing students in a positive interaction with STEM while learning basic SEL skills for life.
