Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My fourth graders are eager to learn. They fell behind when the pandemic hit, and they’re just trying to catch up with curriculum as many are slightly below grade level. However, they remain happy and excited to be in our room every day. They are motivated readers and mathematicians learning to navigate new grade level standards and expectations. My students along with academic challenges have met some social-emotional challenges.

I strongly believe that through reading and the arts we can help meet social-emotional needs.

I like to do read alouds and have discussions with my students about their feelings, our community, diversity, and empathy. These social-emotional awareness books and Model Magic clay can help us merge the two.
