My Students
My school is AMAZING! We have wonderful staff, parents and the students in my classroom are fantastic! I teach in a blended classroom which means I have students ranging from ages 3-5. I have 20 students in my AM session and 19 students in my PM session. The majority of my students are general education students; however, 1/3 of my students are students with special needs.
I love observing the interactions amongst my students because at this age no one sees any differences, everyone is treated the same and everyone is included.
It doesn't matter if some students have limited speech, cognitive impairments, or health related concerns. We modify and differentiate our curriculum so every student can apply what is learned, participate, and succeed.
My Project
My students love exploring and using their senses are a big part of how they learn and discover new things. Adding additional learning opportunities to the classroom help students grow academically as well as socially.
Interacting with sensory activities such as sand, water table toys, and light table manipulatives help promote positive learning experiences and group play.
In order to incorporate these new learning experiences, my students would benefit from materials that we can utilize in our classroom. These new materials such as play sand, light table builders, water toys for the water table, and letter activities can benefit every student and can be differentiated depending on student need and ability. My students love interacting with one another at the water/sensory table and by adding these new materials like the Link Crabs and Shape Shell Turtles the students are able to learn new academic skills while still reinforcing previously taught skills such as turn taking and sharing. Not to mention these new materials will spark interest and exploration. My students love learning and I want to make sure their love of learning continues.
